The Rivers State Chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has raised the alarm about an alleged plot by the six rebel lawmakers in the state to hold a surprise early morning sitting at which they would impeach embattled Governor Chibuike Amaechi.
“Information reaching us has it that they are considering sitting as early as 6:00 a.m. to carry out this nefarious plot,” Chief Eze Chukwuemeka Eze, spokesman of Rivers APC Interim Chairman, Dr. Davies Ikanya, told News Express late last night.
Eze alleged that the sitting could take place today or tomorrow if the rebel lawmakers reportedly fronting for Supervising Education Minister Nyesom Wike are not stopped in their tracks.
“The six anti-Amaechi lawmakers and members of the local government executive councils of Wike’s GDI (Grassroots Development Initiative), excluding women, would be sneaked into the Rivers State House of Assembly Complex by 6am and would be moved through eastern bypass by the police,” Eze said.
He warned the rebel lawmakers led by Hon. Evans Bipi to desist from executing the alleged impeachment plot, which he said would definitely plunge Rivers State into unprecedented crisis.
“In this regard, we appeal to the Commissioner of Police, Mr. Mbu, to monitor the nefarious activities of Bipi and his fellow rebel lawmakers, who are a tiny minority in a House of 32, to prevent them achieving this evil plot,” Eze said.
