A former Chairman, Orolu Local Government Council, Chief Rufus Woleola, has been remanded in prison custody over an allegation that he diverted N22m meant for the construction of nine public classroom buildings into his private account.
The charge sheet read on Tuesday when the case came up before a state High Court sitting in Osogbo alleged that Woleola did not execute the contract for which the sum of money was released.
According to the charge sheet, the sum of money was released under the constituency project initiative but Woleola, who served as chairman in the Peoples Democratic Party administration, failed to execute the contract.
The ex-chairman was arrested and arraigned by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, following a petition by a group, Orolu
Integrity Forum.
