The Nigeria Union of Journalists (NU) has berated Nigerian politicians saying that their actions in recent times are capable of derailing the country’s democracy.
National President of the NUJ, Mr Mohammed Garba, made this known in Abuja yesterday during a public presentation to address the current political unrest in the country as well as the recent assault on journalists in Rivers State while carrying out their social responsibility.
Garba observed that the political tension in the country is assuming frightening levels and that recent happening in the political arena calls for concern, especially among the stakeholders who fought to ensure that democracy in Nigeria is thriving.
“We have to be very careful, politicians have not learnt their lesson, and the way things are going in Nigeria today politicians are going to frustrate the democracy which have been seriously fought for in the country”, the NUJ president said.
