The Senate President, David Mark, has urged the political class to play the game by the rules in the interest of the nation’s democracy as the country approaches the 2015 general election.
He said by so doing the peaceful co-existence of the people  and political stability of the country would be guaranteed.
Mark gave the advice at the weekend, at a funeral oration he delivered at the burial of the late Chief Gloria Gemade, mother of the senator representing Benue North-east senatorial zone in the National Assembly, Senator Barnabas Gemade,  at Tse Gemade Gaave in Konshisha Local Government Area of Benue State.
According to him, “Our politicians must learn to play the game by the rules in the interest of our democracy because that is the only way we can guarantee political stability and peaceful co-existence in our country.
“As for those of us in the Senate, we are  already playing by the rules and we urged the political class to do same.”
The Senate President, who said the three senators representing Benue State in the National Assembly were closely working in the collective interest of the people of the state, sued for cooperation and more support from the people of the state.
In his speech, the Vice-President, Alhaji Namadi Sambo, who was represented by the Minister of Interior, Mr. Abba Moro, urged the Gemade family and the people of the state to always uphold the legacy of peace and love for one another, which the late Gloria Gemade stood for in her life time.
Also speaking at the occasion, the acting Governor of the state, Chief Steven Lawani, called on politicians in the state not to overheat the polity, adding that they should respect the rule of the game and maintained peaceful co-existence in the state.
