The interim committee of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Bayelsa State yesterday wrote a Save-Our-Soul (SOS) letter to the national leader of the Pp arty and former Lagos State governor, Senator Bola Tinubu, and the interim national chairman of the party, Chief Bisi Akande, over the noticeable delay in the setting up of the interim leadership structure and the settling of disputes lingering among members of the party in the state.

The letter, written by state interim committee of the party, made up of the leaders of the defunct Action Congress of Nigeria (ACN),Nalaguo Chris Alagoa, Harrow Zuokumor (ANPP),Chief Livinus Agala Opuakpa (ANPP),Chief Joel Nathan Tubonimi (CPC),State Chairman of ANPP, Hon. Tuamo Abule (ANPP),argued that the delay has become worrisome due to the alleged hijack of the process by some politicians including the former Governor of the State, Chief Timipre Sylva.

The concerned leaders of the APC, in the three-page letter made available to LEADERSHIP in Yenagoa, argued that the hundreds of party faithful and loyalists were concerned that the delay had thrown the party into a confused state gripped by rumours and insinuations.

He said, “We are surprised as to why the state interim committee has not been inaugurated. This apparent deliberate delay has created a vacuum that is being exploited by some faceless political jobbers and fugitives from justice, operating from outside the state.

“The actions of the national interim executive committee, especially the South-South Zonal Leadership of the party are questionable. We understand that a team has been dispatched to Bayelsa state to recruit and train officers for the nation-wide registration exercise without recourse to the state interim committee.

“We have also observed that the national interim executive committee seems to have handed over the entire structure of APC in Bayelsa to Chief Timipre Sylva in Abuja and are dealing with him without consulting with the party in the state. This unfortunate decision is breeding bad blood in the state. This has resulted in the emergence of a strange list of registration and training officers purportedly sent in by Chief Timipre Sylva.”
