A Kenyan Pastor, self styled Bishop Thomas Wahome, who presides over a church known as Helicopter Ministries, has claimed that for Sh 1,200 (One thousand two hundred Kenyan Shilling or about $17.50 or NGN2,850) he can ask God if your name is in the book of life, referred to in Philippians 4:3 and many other scriptures – in otherwords, he can check if you are going to heaven.
According to a website, nairobiexposed.com, the same pastor was charging Sh 1,200 in 2012 for anyone who wanted to touch his garment – like the woman who touched Jesus’ garment and was healed of an infirmity that had afflicted her for 12 years in Mark 5:21-34.
His new service is called “Check whether your name is the book of life”. Wahome claims that if you give him Sh 1,500, he can actually ask God whether you are among those people who will go to heaven. He claims that he has a direct line to God and he can communicate with him directly.
Bishop Wahome also believes that he is allowed to marry as many wives as he wants. A few years ago, while embroiled in a matrimonial dispute in court this was what he told the court, “Even if I had not divorced her under Kikuyu-Kamba customs, I am allowed to be polygamous but I chose to divorce her first and my only wife now is Berita Munywoki,”
It is not yet known how many people have patronised his new service.
