PDP has become an African issue —Jonathan

pdp-nec jonathan Alhaji Adamu MuazuPRESIDENT Goodluck Jonahan has described the ruling People’s Democratic Party (PDP) as an Africa issue, which transcends the Nigerian political plane.

President Jonathan, who made the remark on Saturday, at the Dan Anyiam Stadium, Owerri, Imo State, during a reception organised for former members of the party who returned, said presidents of other African countries called him to ask questions each time the PDP experienced internal crisis.

According to him, the country is important, not only in African, but the entire world, due to the role Nigeria had played in the world.

He, however, said that the campaign has not started, adding that the train was in Owerri to receive members of the party who left in the past and had decided to return home.

He said Imo State is a PDP a state and that the party had come back to take the state back in 2015 from those that are holding it.

President Jonathan advised people who want to enter politics to look for the party that has good ideology and principles.

In their speeches, Vice President Alhaji Namadi  Sambo, and the national chairman of the party, Dr. Adamu Muazu, said that Imo state is PDP and come 2015 they are taking back from those who took it in 2011.

Among those who spoke at the rally were: the Senate President, David Mark; the Board of Trusee (BOT) chairman of the party, Chief Tony Anineh; Deputy Senate President, Ike Ekweremadu; the Deputy Speaker, House of Representatives, Emeka Iheadioha.

Others included: Chief Emmanuel Iwuanyanwu; the state chairman of the party, Senator Hope Uzodima; Senator Chris Anyanwu; Dr (Mrs) Kema Chikwe; the Foreign Affairs Minister andProf (Mrs) Viola Onwuliri.

Among those returning were former governor of the state, Achike Udenwa, Senator Ifeanyi Araraume, Senator Chris Anyanwu, Chief Mike Ahamba (SAN) and Dr. Alex Obi.

The governors that attended the occasion were Abia, Akwa-Ibom, Kogi, Bayelsa, Ebonyi, Cross River States.
