Ikeja – Gov. Babatunde Fashola of Lagos State on Monday said his administration was irrevocably committed to efficient service delivery to the people of the state.
The governor spoke in Ikeja, at the inauguration of the boards of the state’s Public Procurement Agency and Audit Service Commission.
He said that the government was strengthening institutions and manning them with competent personnel to ensure they adequately met the needs of the state.
“We are committed to building strong and dependable institutions, managed by people with character, experience and integrity.
“The strongest indices of our commitment to a more open government, a more inclusive government, and a more accountable government, is our institutionalised approach to government.
“We are moving from the era of action governors to the era of action governments where government will run and serve the people, irrespective of who is there,” he said.
Fashola said the creation of the public procurement agency and audit commission was to raise the government’s bar of performance.
He explained that both institutions would ensure more transparency in government’s business and enable tax payers to get value for their money.
“The procurement agency is helping to make government procurements more inclusive, more participatory and more open.
“And I am sure Lagosians and the state will be the better for this,” he said.
Fashola urged members of the two boards to see their call as a challenge to make impact in the lives of residents.
He told them to roll up their sleeves and do all they could to make the expected impact.
The state Commissioner for Justice and Chairman of the Procurement Agency Board, Mr Ade Ipaye, thanked the governor for the appointment, promising that the board members would do their best to justify the confidence reposed in them.
Also speaking, the Chairman of the Audit Commission, Mrs Modupe Akinwolemiwa assured the governor that the board would live up to expectation in the delivery of its assignment.(NAN)
