Former military administrator of Delta State, Colonel John David Dungs (retd), has called for a thorough investigation into the the Adamawa State governor Muritala Nyako’s  scathing statements in his memo to the Northern Governors’ Forum, saying Nigerians least expected such statements from a senior retired military officer, who rose to the rank of Chief Naval Staff  and also a serving governor.

The former military administrator  told the Nigerian Tribune in Jos, that a lot of people were taken aback by the memo, considering its implications on the nation and coupled with the insecurity rocking some parts of the northern Nigeria. He noted that the memo depicted governor Nyako as an anchor man for those who want to destabilise  President Goodluck Jonathan- led administration.

“The memo is uncalled for and highly inflammatory, it is politically motivated and ploy to further worsen the insecurity in the northern part of the country. The memo should not be treated with levity, based on the content of the memo. Governor Nyako has presented himself as an anchor man of those who want to destabilise President Jonathan administration.

“The people behind the mask are gradually unmasking themselves, it’s all about 2015, it politically motivated, it is a gimmick to discredit and paint the government of President Jonathan in bad light,” he said.

According to him, the memo is part of an orchestrated plan and plot to discredit the President, whip up sentiments to make president Jonathan look like a monster before an average northerner, ahead of the 2015.

The ex- milad said  that it was unfortunate that the likes of Governor Nyako could descend so low to  author a subversive letter that could further worsen the pathetic security situation.
