No fewer than 15 people including traders were on Sunday killed when some suspected members of Boko Haram terrorists stormed a local market in Daku village of Askira Uba Local Government Area of Borno state, while several shops, houses, vehicles and motorcycles were set ablaze.
Askira Uba shares local boundaries with Biu, Chibok, Gwoza and Hawul council areas, which is south and about 190 kilometres drive from Maiduguri, the state capital that have witnessed series of deadly attacks and killings in recent past.
Our Correspondent gathered from reliable sources that the gunmen numbering over 20 armed with ak47 rifles, improvised Explosive Devices and petrol bombs invaded the market square using motorcycles and one Hilux Toyota vehicle at about 11am and opened fire on traders, killing 15, before they carted away with food items, unspecified amount of money and fled towards the sambisa forest with no confrontation.
