The Coalition of Oodua Self-Determination Group (COSEG), has on Monday raised the alarm over plans by some Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) chieftains to import hundreds of Niger Delta boys to be used for election in Osun.
In statement issued and signed by its Chairman and Secretary, Ifedayo Ogunlana and Rasaq Olookoba respectively, the pan Yoruba Organisation said it had it on good authority that the plans have been concluded on how to storm the state with the Niger Delta militants.
The plan, COSEG revealed, was said to be the brainchild of the PDP Board of Trustee Chairman, Chief Tony Anenih and the Special Adviser to the President on Niger Delta Affairs, Kingsley Kuku.
The organisation said that Kuku, who was deeply involved in the Niger Delta struggle and knows the militants inside out, was said to have volunteered to contact and hire the services of the militants for the purpose boasting the dwindling fortune of the PDP.
COSEG condemns in strong terms the plan by the PDP and the Federal Government to destabilise Osun all because of civil process of election.
It described as double jeopardy the plan to import the militants after heavy policing and militarisation of the state.
The statement further said: “We heard from reliable source that the PDP has enlisted the help of NIGER Delta militants to come to Osun for the election.
“Chief tony Anenih and Kingsley Kuku were the point men the PDP hierarchy used to perfect the plan.
“We in COSEG know the antecedent of Anenih as ‘Mr Fix it’ and so do not take lightly the sinister plan to storm Osun with militant.
“We are sending caution to President Goodluck Jonathan to counsel his party chiefs to desist from such obnoxious plan as the people of Osun will resist with all their might any attempt to destabilise the state.”
The organisation also said the Osun people should not be intimidated by the presence of the security men saying it has become clear to the security agents that Osun’s election cannot be rigged because of the massive support of the people enjoyed by Aregbesola.
The statement urged voters to show more determination against the onslaught being perfected by the PDP-led Federal Government saying the plot to unseat Aregbesola has failed.
