A mobile court sitting in Ayedaade Local Government, Osun State has convicted 31 drivers and motorcyclists for traffic offences.
The suspects, who were arraigned in court on Friday, were arrested by the state command of the Federal Road Safety Corps.
Sector Commander, Mr. Imoh Etuk, said the various sentences would help to check reckless driving in the state.
Etuk said a magistrate, Mr. Ademola Ayeni, presided over the court, which convicted the suspects.
He said the offenders were arrested during a special operation of the sector in Gbongan-Osogbo area.
He said the convicts were charged with offences that ranged from reckless driving to overloading, adding that many of the motorcyclists were arrested for not using crash helmets.
The corps commander said the convicts were given an option of fine that ranged between N2, 000 and N5, 000, depending on the gravity of their offences.
Etuk urged motorists to always obey traffic rules and regulations, stressing that the commission would check reckless driving on the highways.
Etuk, who warned that the exercise would be continuous, appealed to the road users to help in reducing accidents in the country.
