The Nigeria Ambassador to Cuba, Ambassador Laraba Bhutto has disclosed that the Cuban government is yet to remove Nigeria out among the countries with Ebola.

Bhutto who spoke to Vanguard  in Havana, said the Mission had made request for Cuba to look into removing Nigeria from the list of quarantine countries.

“We have sent two reports backing that Nigeria is no longer among the countries with the spread of Ebola,  but we have not had any response from them, so we are waiting, but the Minister  of Health in Cuba doesn’t think that the report is enough evidence to remove Nigeria from quarantine because Cuba is working with the World Health Organisation on the Ebola issue.

“The Minister  of  health in Cuba feel removing Nigeria from quarantine can only be done when the WHO has  satisfied the Nigerian report,” she argued.

Bhutto also called on ECOWAS countries to come together in combating the deadly virus.

” This is not to say that the battle is over because a lot more still needs to be done in order to help our sister countries in West Africa that are still grappling with combating the virus.

“This situation also calls for our joint response and action, and Nigeria, under the auspices of the Economic Community of West African States has made funds available towards eradicating the Ebola Virus Disease”, she added.

Speaking on number of documented Nigerians immigrant who lived in Cuba, Ambassador Bhutto said Nigerian population in Cuba is very small since government is the only employer of labour.

“There are forty three Nigerians in Cuba, the bulk of these are students, about seventeen are post graduate students reading Medicine in different areas of specialties.
