The Lagos State Commissioner for Physical Development and Urban Planning, Toyin Ayinde Adedamola, yesterday revealed that the collapsed guest house, belonging to the Synagogue Church of All Nations (SCOAN) has no approval from the state government.
Testifying before the Coroners Court sitting in Ikeja, presided over by Chief Magistrate Oyetade Komolafe, the commissioner revealed that at the initial stage he arrived at the collapsed scene, he alongside his team had difficulty in gaining access but for the timely intervention of the police officials on duty that paved the way for him.
However, under cross examination the witness admitted that lack of approval document for a building does not invalidate its integrity test.
He added, that there is no scientific proof that a building will stand or fallen if there is no plan.
On rescue mission, the witness told the Coroner that as at the time of the visit to the scene, nothing much has been done to remove debrils from the collapsed site.
