Former Governor of Borno State, Senator (Dr) Ali Modu Sheriff, has made history again with the mammoth crowd that welcomed him to Maiduguri.
Thousands of supporters and well wishers trooped to the Maiduguri International Airport to welcome the Leader, who has united the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), in Borno state and prepared the party towards winning the 2015 elections in the state.
Modu Sheriff was a testament that, the people of Borno state are ready for a change in 2015.
Speaking to some of the residents of Maiduguri, who queued up along the Maiduguri airport to welcome Sheriff, revealed that the former governor is still loved by Borno people, despite all attempts by political opponents to denigrate him.
“I must confess to you, this man is loved by his people, I have never come close to him, but I like him, I have heard so many stories about him, but time, I think, is revealing a lot about him, which only open up to some plans by his political opponents, to use whatever means to destroy him. From what I saw at the airport, Gambori Lawan was with him, Kashim Imam is with him, Muhammad Kumalia was with him, Mohammed Wakil was with him to mention but few. This is an indication that, PDP is Borno and Borno is PDP come 2015.” Tijjani Umar of Bullumkuttu ward said.
Another resident, Ibrahim Kalamu said, time has changed but the people of Borno state are for PDP. According to him, “the crowd I saw today, astonished me, I never thought that, Sheriff could pull such a crowd from the recent stories that we have been hearing. We were told that he even changed party to APGA but all that were lies. The man has continued to prove people wrong, I submit, he is the leader as it is said.”
