A dumbfounded Chief (Dr.) Edwin Kiagbodo Clark, yesterday, in Warri, Delta State, shelved his planned attack on Governor Sule Lamido of Jigawa State and also  apologized to Nigerians for his utterances, over the years, which they consider to have threatened the unity of the country.

He also commended the Governor of Delta State, Dr. Emmanuel Uduaghan, who he said had done well in sports and brought national and international recognition to the state.

Clark spoke, yesterday, at  finals of first edition of Chief (Dr.) E.K. Clark National Wrestling Championship,  held at the Brownhill Event Centre, Warri, Delta State. The Ijaw national leader had come prepared to the event with a speech to lambast Governor Lamido over his recent outburst against him (Clark), but he was  pleasantly surprised that despite the existing political differences between them, the governor sponsored a contingent from Jigawa State to a national wrestling championship in his honour.

His words, “We thank   God. I said that today that I have been making statements, sometimes people think that my statement is threatening the unity of this country. I believe in Nigeria, I believe in the unity of this country. I never at anytime like to make statement that will threaten the unity of this country.

“If over the years, I’ve made any statement that threatened the unity of this country, I apologize to all Nigerians. Nigeria is a big country and we all must make our contribution.’’he said.
