KANO State governor, Dr. Rabiu Kwankwaso has asked President Goodluck Jonathan to sack Chairman of the National Population Commission (NPC), Dr. Festus Odimegwu, over his criticism of the 2006 Census.
He made the call in the State House Abuja on Friday during a meeting with the president.
Odimegwu had been reported to have said that the 2006 Census housing enumeration data was not published because it was altered by census officials due to corrupt practices.
Kwankwaso also requested to know from the president why approval had not been granted to airlines that applied to the Ministry of Aviation to operate in Mallam Aminu Kano International Airport, Kano.
Fielding questions from State House Correspondents after the meeting with the president, Kwankwaso revealed that it was the president who invited him for a discussion on national issues, and that they had a fruitful deliberation.
He said, “I also raise the issue of the Chairman of the National Population Commission headed by one Festus Odimegwu. We are not happy with that appointment because it was a mistake. Festus shouldn’t be there in the first place.”
