Benue State governor, Mr Gabriel Suswam, has frowned at the rampant cases of robbery against priests in the state by youths suspected to be hoodlums, saying the youths should stop robbing clerics but should rather apply their physical abilities to agricultural activities.

The governor said armed robbery was a deadly sin which was forbidden and that it was ungodly especially when committed against priests who propagate the message of God.

Suswam spoke at the civic reception held for the director general of National Agency for Foods, Drugs Administration and Control (NAFDAC), Dr Paul Orhii at Lessel town in Ushongo local government area of the state over Orhii’s reappointment as the DG of NAFDAC. He said that anyone caught in any act of criminality shall be punished accordingly.

It would be recalled that youths suspected to be armed robbers had, few weeks ago, invaded the official residences of the Catholic priests at St. Winifred’s Parish Ihugh town in Vandeilkya local government area and that of St. Joseph’s Parish Korinya in Konshisha local government area respectively.

The invaders who stormed the church yards at night, molested the priests, beating them mercilessly and carted away valuable items including money and gadgets.
